About the Author

Glauco Ortolano is originally from Americana, Brazil. He has taught Portuguese, English and Spanish in several universities in the United States, Brazil, France, Puerto Rico and the Middle East (Oman and Saudi Arabia), and less formally in Japan and Taiwan.

He is the author of two novels, two short-story collections, and four poetry collections. During his tenure at the University of Oklahoma, he served as contributing editor of the international literary magazine World Literature Today, to which he contributed with several articles and interviews with Brazilian authors such as bestseller Paulo Coelho and Ana Maria Machado (Hans Christian Andersen Prize), all widely translated into many languages. While at WLT, he participated in the organization of the Neustadt Prize in Literature and the Puterbaugh Conference on World Literature.

He is currently serving as President of the Academia Internacional de Escritores Brasileiros (International Academy of Brazilian Writers) and, by invitation of the Swedish Academy, he has had the honor to contribute for the last three years with a nomination for the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Glauco Ortolano writes in Portuguese, his native language, as well as in English. Prior to writing POEM-VIRONMENT, he published POEM-DEMIC during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He currently holds the position of Associate Professor at the Defense Critical Language and Culture Program of the University of Montana.
