Playlist: The Very Best of the Isley Brothers is a seriously flawed overview of the Isleys' '70s and early-'80s output for Epic. Several significant singles from the period are here, from the ballads ("For the Love of You," "Between the Sheets," "Voyage to Atlantis," "Let's Fall in Love") to the jams ("That Lady") to the covers ("Hello It's Me," "Summer Breeze," "Spill the Wine"). Several hits that should appear on a disc with "very best" as part of its title -- Top Ten R&B singles like "Pop That Thang," "What It Comes Down To," and "Fight the Power," for instance -- are not included. ~ Andy Kellman
