About the Author

The original author of the series was Audrey Grant, a Canadian educator and world famous bridge teacher, who calls herself "an authority on simplicity." She has an uncanny knack for teaching people to play bridge, the most popular game on the planet. Grant's passion is teaching. In the original series of books--Bidding, Play of the Hand, Defense, Commonly Used Conventions and More Commonly Used Conventions--she made it easy to learn the game of bridge and to improve the knowledge and skills of the student.

Betty Starzec was selected to do the work on the update project. Betty has taught bridge since 1985 in Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Japan, in addition to the United States. She is an ACBL five-star teacher, a member of the American Bridge Teacher Association's Master Teacher Committee, a Senior TAP Trainer and the creator of the Unit Growth Program and other ACBL seminars.
