About the Author

CAROL R. BROWN is the owner of a consulting firm, Carol Brown Associates, that specializes in library planning. She previously held the position of assistant chief of branch services at the Houston Public Library, after joining the library as Adult Specialist in the Office of Material Selection and advancing to become manager of Jungman Branch. She has a wide range of library experience, including four years as reference librarian and assistant undergraduate librarian at Indiana University. She has a B.A. in fine arts and English from Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa. Her consulting services include assessment of library operations and buildings, long-range planning, all aspects of the building process, interior and custom furbaniture design, space planning and training.
