It has to be difficult to provide the voices for an entire city. Yet that's just what narrator Robin Miles does wonderfully in this mystery set aboard the space station Cuidad de Cielo (City in the Sky). Complicating matters is the fact that this outpost, a jumping-off point to the stars, is populated by outcasts of many nationalities who are seeking new lives. So, in addition to the protagonists, corrupt cop Nikki “Fix” Freeman and her straight-arrow government shadow, Alice Blake, there are all strata of characters, good and bad, male and female. For Miles, this requires numerous accents and dialects, all of which she handles deftly. Miles creates indelible characters, allowing listeners to sit back and enjoy this thriller's propulsive action. D.E.M. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine
