Piroulline Book One
A man remains locked in his small private dining room. He is alone except for the company of his two dogs. The young man is passed out cold, head down on a tiny dining room table because he is stone drunk. He is unaware that the dogs are growling and fighting over the bones he threw to them earlier. They came from the remnants of half-eaten food from his discarded silver dinner plate . But the sleeping man is not completely alone in his big house. The rest of the house is silent as a church until they heard a persistent sound far from the dining room. Footsteps were descending the marble staircase, none too quietly. Someone is approaching the dining room, the individual's mindset with intent. Keys which he carries in his hand a rung jingled. This individual carries a small hand whip and a round of stout cord lashed to his belt. Oddly enough, he wears black leather gloves on each hand. His name is Oliver, and he is the groundkeeper for this estate.
Passing through the lower level of the mansion, he watches as two servants scurry past him. Their eyes wide with fear knowing what he is all about. Oliver approaches the door, he can hear raucous sounds coming from within the room from where he stands in the corridor. He selects the key he needs to unlock the door. Slipping it into the cylinder, he turns it in the tumbler quickly. Raising his boot high he swiftly kicks the door open. Now inside of the dining room he slams the door shut behind him to safeguard the other residents in the house. All within the dining room goes deathly silent. Until one can hear the scrabbling of long nails on the marble floor coming from the two beasts in the room. They are coming on, expediently they are all but galloping in his direction. Oliver unfurls the whip raising it high over his head it prepares him to do bodily damage to the beast as the first dog attacks.
