Pirate Dave is an unusual pirate who doesn't follow the usual pirate traditions of being mean, breaking stuff and scaring people. Instead, he just wants to be friendly. But that doesn't stop the people in a town he visits from thinking he will be like every other pirate and do rotten stuff. Pirate Dave decides to sell some of the strange treasures he has collected on his travels as a way to convince everyone he just wants to make friends and means no harm. After reluctantly viewing his treasures the towns folk decide Pirate Dave is indeed friendly and kind. As well, Pirate Dave's ship 'The Salty Dog' is having a terrible time with pesky barnacles which are ticklish and annoying. A visit from a mysterious friend soon puts an end to Salty Dogs problem

About the Author
David Yates lives in New Zealand and this is his first book. His pathway to becoming an author included twenty years in broadcasting and time as an adult university student where he studied Anthropology and Philosophy. David enjoys the process of using his vivid imagination to create worlds and stories specifically for children. David plans to write more stories for children, including further Pirate Dave adventures.David lives in a large sprawling home with his sister, several ducks and a vivacious dog.
