Pioneers With Purpose details the lives of two families from 1861 through 1892 from Southern Missouri to Indian Territory in Kansas. Though the tale is true, the dialogue is imagined to parallel the saga and punctuate the importance of their struggles, trials, errors and ultimately how they endured under the duress assisting slaves to the North, rough weather during escape by wagontrain, Indian uprisings, babies born without midwives or doctors, and drought and floods forcing sale to Banks and flight to cities nearby.

About the Author

Kathleen Boston McCune has spent much of her career as a Financial Analyst but when she inherited letters from the Civil War felt compelled to share their contents and their import with the rest of the World. She lives in Kansas (sixth generation) with her Marine husband on a hill overlooking the woods. They have six children between them and twelve grandchildren. Travel and visiting their prodigy and other family are their favorite pastimes.

This book was well written and researched. The characters were all very likable and very much brought to life. The research showed in the way these people lived day to day. It kept my interest all the way through and I would recommend it to anyone.
