Piano Bar
Free verse poetry, with one exception "A Shared Secret." Various themes and settings, played through the collection as songs at a piano bar, often unnoticed by a crowd too concerned with immediate affairs and the noise of the crowd. "Disbelief" deals with a theme on how belief can lead to inaction all the while thinking that something is being accomplished; how belief can prevent action and the consequences of inaction which is answered by "Movement of One" where action is not dictated by the masses, an invitation to separate oneself from the masses. While social media today allows everyone to have a voice there is no equal power for the individual, overshadowed by vitriol. The individuals emerge from the darkness in "Fireflies": "Moving upon the breeze,/Drifting lights, unable to set the moment,/Moments illuminated,/Lives drifting upon the breeze." Various vignettes culminate in "Real Work": "For after work there will be wisdom,/When purpose will become Purpose,/And the real work will begin."
