About the Author

Denizé "Lotu" Lauture opens his eyes in Haiti Toma in the Jacmèl Mountains, in an area called Ka Lotu (Habitation Lauture, located now in the Commune La Vallée de Jacmel). He attended schools Saint-Louis de Gonzague and Jean-Marie Guilloux in Port-a-Prince, Haiti. He also attended University of the City of New York (CCNY) in the evening program, graduating with a B.A. in sociology, an M.A. in bilingual pedagogy, and an M.A. in Spanish literature. He spent 40 years as a teacher. He is married to Tricide Durandisse Lauture. He has two sons, a lawyer and a banker.
