Overview

In 2018, Hattie King set out to write a series of rhyming children's books and as practice, challenged herself to share one rhyming couplet(four-line poem) everyday for a year. She was successful and, in 2020, published her first 365 rhymes in a book called, Gravel. Upon publishing Gravel, King decided that she would like to illustrate the three children's books she had successfully accomplished during her "year of rhymes," so King began practicing her illustrating skills and the result was Pebbles, a fresh set of rhyming couplets accompanied by some of the most vibrant artwork ever seen in a poetry book!
Pebbles is book 2 in Hattie King's Gravel series. Here we get a highly creative and far more contemplative sampling of what Hattie King is so good at, imagination and rhyme. Take a voyage into the authors corner of the universe and relish the wonders of a world where sweet nectar rains from sky flowers, trees tell hundred year old stories, and dishes wash themselves. Filled again with little rhyming reminders to take responsibility for your happiness and gratitude, Pebbles is a rake within rock garden; a meditation and a celebration of life, cats and ice cream. Put it on your coffee table next to Gravel and have a never-ending supply of day brightening thoughts and affirmations. These little nuggets of song-like sustenances can accompany any warm cup of coffee or tea better than scones and biscotti for the nourishment they will offer your soul, time and again. About the Author

Hattie King debuted on stage at age six and forever became a disciplined servant to the arts. She studied dance, singing and theater, and wrote heart-breaking stories (that frankly worried her middle school teachers) and was one of three seniors to direct a play in her high school. She was named theater student of the year in college before changing her degree to literature, and after raising a family, decided it was time to focus on writing again.
In 2018, Hattie King set out to write a series of rhyming children's books and as practice, challenged herself to share one rhyming couplet(four-line poem) everyday for a year. She was successful and, in 2020, published her first 365 rhymes in a book called, Gravel. Upon publishing Gravel, King decided that she would like to illustrate the three children's books she successfully accomplished during her "year of rhymes," so she began practicing her illustrating skills and the result was Pebbles, a fresh set of rhyming couplets accompanied by some of the most vibrant artwork seen in a poetry book! Pebbles was published in 2021 and although the first two books of this series were published one year apart, the third book in the series, Stones, is not due to publish for a few years. King has begun illustrating her children’s books and hopes to begin publishing that series shortly.
Hattie King is currently writing, illustrating, and traveling the world from her home in the Pacific Northwest. To date, King has written over 500 rhyming couplets and has been featured in six issues of The Hat Channel Magazine(London). As of this publication, King is working on Imagine--the first of what she hopes to be many Children's books to come. She happily resides in Bellingham, Washington with her husband of 22 years, their two teenagers and one cat.
