Peace in Spirituality
Throughout recorded history, mankind has recognized a higher power which has exerted a controlling influence on their lives. Most have developed schemes of honoring or appeasing that power in hopes of gaining favor. Such efforts are known as religion. In general, religions, particularly the Abrahamic religions, have denigrated women and sex to the level of slaves and are the cause of all evil, including mental illness. That attitude set the stage for both internal and external hostilities which have prevailed to this day. By defining the essence of spirituality, this writing offers a foolproof plan for permanent peace. Prior reading of my book, Wilderness Cry, would be the most beneficial in interpreting this thesis.

About the Author

Hilary Leo Hunt was born in 1933 as the fifth of six boys to parents who lived in a three-room house which had no electricity nor indoor facilities of any kind in rural West Kentucky near the town of Fancy Farm. The Illinois Central Railroad ran through their front yard. They lived on a small farm and their main cash crop was tobacco. All their tilling and cultivating was done with mules. His first twelve years of education were at Saint Jerome Elementary and High School. Fancy Farm was a 100 percent Catholic community in the middle of the Bible belt. Saint Jerome Catholic Church was and still is the largest building in the town.
As valedictorian of his small high school, he earned a scholastic scholarship at Saint Edwards University, Austin, Texas. That school, being administered by the Holy Cross Brothers was facetiously known as the Notre Dame of the South. While there, he not only learned science but also the correct philosophic method of analysis and thought.
From Saint Ed’s, Saint Louis University School of Medicine accepted him, and he graduated M.D. in 1958. He was very fortunate to marry his high school sweetheart, Mary Louise Cash, after his first year of medical school. She was a god-send. She worked to support them while at the same time being extremely encouraging and helpful in his studies. After completing two years of post-graduate training in Saint Louis and two years of family practice in nearby town of Mayfield, Dr. Hunt was extremely fortunate to be accepted into the training program of the prestigious Campbell Clinic, Memphis, Tennessee. Upon returning to Mayfield to practice orthopedics, he was drafted into the US Army where he was appointed chief of orthopedics at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. During that two-year stint, he achieved the rank of LTC and also was awarded one of the highest noncombat honors the military bestows—the Meritorious Service Medal.
Upon discharge from the military, he moved his wife and five children to Paducah, Kentucky, where he practiced orthopedics until retirement.
During all those years, he had a keen interest in science, literature, language, philosophy, and religion. That interest prompted him to write his first book Wilderness Cry: A Scientific and Philosophical Approach to Understanding God and the Universe. It is frequently referenced in this writing.
