The formal institution was established in 1968 and named Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust under the chairmanship of the late Shri Arvindbhai N. Mafatlal. Today the trust works in rural India in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Today the primary activity is eye care, and it is the largest NGO in the field of eradication of blindness.
