The FLYING DUCKS catalog was published by Parker Brothers circa 1913. Although the original catalogue is undated, the Quality Trojan shown here is call a New gun...[and]...the result of experience gained in nearly fifty years of gun manufacture. An announcement in February 8, 1913 issue of the American Filed, stated that Parker Brothers of Meriden, Conn., gun manufacturers are just placing on the market a new low priced double-barreled shotgun, which is known as the Trojan. Charles Parker began ...nearly fifty years of gun manufacture in 1864, with a military contract for fifteen thousand Model 1861 Springfield rifle-muskets. The claim in this catalogue of ...upward ot 170,000 guns in the hands of sportsmen, also supports the conclusion that this catalogue dates to 1913 as Parker Brothers surely padded their production to anticipate sales after the catalog was issued. Low serial numbers for Trojan grade have been observed in the range of 160,XXX; however, it was usual for Parker brothers to simultaneously produce guns of different grades with substantial serial number variations.
