Overview

When you think of Paris, what do you picture? The Eiffel Tower? The medieval cathedral of Notre-Dame? The grandeur of the Louvre? Or do you see elegant boulevards, beautiful bridges, and romantic brasseries? Or is it the parks, the boats on the River Seine, and the stylish Metro stations that spring to mind? With Paris there are so many strikingly attractive sides to the city.

In more than 200 outstanding images, Paris celebrates the French capital, from its world-famous landmarks to evocative alleyways, from the top of the Arc de Triomphe down to its railway stations and deeper still to the city’s catacombs.

Paris delves into everyday life, the Parisians’ love for food, classic and modern landmarks, Paris by night, and on to life on the move in the metropolis. Alastair Horne explores hundreds of aspects to the city of light. With captions revealing many fascinating but little-known facts about the history and culture of the French capital, Paris is a stunning collection of images of the world’s most romantic city.
