Charlotte Calder was born in Adelaide and grew up in the Adelaide Hills and Darwin, the setting for her first novel Settling Storms, which was published in 2000. Other novels include Cupid Painted Blind, Surviving Amber, and most recently, Paper Alice, all published by Pan Macmillan.
Charlotte has in distant past lives worked as an actor and a photographer, and currently works two days a week as a broker's assistant, a huge stretch for someone so details and numbers-challenged. She lives with her husband and the youngest of their three children near Orange, NSW, where they are one of the few families round about not to have a vineyard!
Her picture book for the very young, Stuck!, is to be published in 2009.
