About the Author

Dennis C. Turk is Professor of Psychiatry, Anesthesiology, and Behavioral Science, and Director of the Pain Evaluation and Treatment Institute at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He has published over 170 journal articles and chapters in books. Among the seven books he has either authored or edited are Pain and Behavioral Medicine, Pain Management: A Handbook of Psychological Treatment Approaches, and Facilitating Treatment Adherence: A Practitioner's Guidebook. A founding member of both the International Association for the Study of Pain and the American Pain Society, Dr. Turk is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research, and the Society of Behavioral Medicine.
