How to Connect with What's Most Important in a Hyperconnected World

Social media has the power to do a lot of good, but it can also get in the way of authenticity and create a sense of disillusionment. In Overliked, pastor and author Rob Singleton asks readers to take a closer look at the optics in their lives and in the world around them. This is a book about understanding how to see "likes" and "selfie" culture for what they really are and how to connect with the heart of God to build out a new way of thinking about social image.

We have technology and social tools all at our disposal, but when we recognize that so many in our culture now look for acceptance in how they're perceived, feel pressure to project something about themselves that isn't true, or take action based on facts that have been spun, that's a problem that runs deep. Singleton shows readers how to find their way through the complexities by pointing them to God, who created truth, genuine love, and meaningful relationships. Written for those who believe—for this generation and the next—that they need to get a better handle on what's real in this culture and in the lives of those they care about, this book brings authenticity and hope to the center of it all.

Singleton offers powerful insights into how we can better leverage the information in the world around us without losing who we are. When we begin to see the real us behind the avatars, we gain the clarity we need to live better, love bigger, and become who we were always meant to be.

About the Author

Rob Singleton is the lead pastor of The Summit Church. His vision has long been to help rescue the lost, raise them up in Christ, and release them into the community to fulfill the Great Commission and Great Commandment.

Late one night, alone on a 40 acre island in the heart of the Adirondack mountains, Rob was called into ministry at the age of 16. Like Jacob in the Old Testament, he was wrestling with God about which way to go with his life. Before the night was over, God had won and the young teenager knew he would never be the same!

After high school, Rob returned to that Island (Word of Life Island) and that same tree where he had such an intense spiritual encounter with the living God, and attended Word of Life Bible Institute for one year of deep instruction in God’s Word by some of the best teachers from around the world.

From there it was off to Dallas Theological Seminary where he received his ThM (Master of Theology degree) and a 3 year stint as the North Dallas Area Director for Young Life. After seminary Rob moved to Charlotte North Carolina and met his wife, Michelle. They were married in November of 1995 and together have 2 awesome children, Nathan and Juliana.

Rob planted 2 churches: Grace Community and Southbrook. After pastoring Southbrook for 12 years and seeing over 6,000 people commit their lives to Jesus Christ, as well as over 3,000 profess Him through baptism, Pastor Rob ventured out one more time to plant Impact Church with Forest Hills Church in Charlotte.

Today he pastors The Summit Church, a wonderful and vibrant community in the heart of America's ski country, Centennial, Colorado.
