Overview

At the young age of 14 years old, our daughter developed a life-threatening massive blood clot in her leg. This story is about our daughter Grace and our family's experience with a rare medical condition. It took us two weeks before we were able to convince Grace's doctors to listen to us and get an accurate diagnosis. My daughter Grace was one of the youngest patients with May-Thurner syndrome that her doctors' had ever treated with this condition. Medically it's a simple problem that sounds complicated; an iliac vein in the hip area becomes compressed by an overlying artery and reduces blood flow which increases the risk for blood clots to form.
