Unintentionally, Tiana gives him ammunition against her when she sings at HCE, the mega church not far from Mt. Salem. While there, she meets the pastor, Jermaine Billings. They form a friendship, which he's determined to take to a romantic relationship. Tiana has plenty reservations about that with their denominational differences but finds his appeal irresistible.
Tiana doesn't know he has a past, a negative one, with the SAB Church. August Granger and his cronies do. Now, it's their intention to use her affiliation with 'black sheep' Jermaine to advocate her dismissal.
