About the Author

Oshaunga T Combs, a 45-year-old native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, relocated to Moreno Valley, California, in 1989 and resided in a small house on Delphinium Avenue. She is the second of six siblings and pursued her education, becoming an associate pre-K teacher.
She graduated from the College of the Desert in Palm Springs, California, and continued her studies at WGU, working toward a degree in special education for mild to moderate needs. In addition to her academic achievements, she holds a certificate in hypnotherapy.
Believing in equality and devoid of religious discrimination, she is an aunt to 17 nieces and nephews. As an African-American woman, her family has a deep-rooted history in America spanning over 600 years. She is the daughter of a US Army Veteran and a strong advocate for education and equal job opportunities for all individuals. She firmly supports the idea that individuals with disabilities should have the same rights and fair treatment as everyone else.
Facing her own battle with mental illness as a person with schizophrenia, she defied expectations that she would never be able to teach, ultimately assisting in teaching pre-K and advocating for second chances. Her belief centers on the importance of looking beyond one's self and embracing love regardless of race, creed, or color. She is a member of the Honor Society and aspires to one day acquire a large building to provide hot meals and shelter for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities, with the hope of employing those who face challenges in finding jobs. She also envisions organizing group meetings for people with disabilities to ensure their voices are heard.
