Overview

Orchid Island is a classic story of the love between a man, and a woman.

- and the robot who comes between them,

- and the lush, tropical island where
terrorists have stranded them,

- and the shadowy gunman who is hunting them,

- and the flesh-eating zombies trying to devour them;

well, not just them - the flesh-eating zombies pretty much want to devour everyone.

Ain't love grand?

**********

''Body temperature too low,'' Heart-of-Gold seem to be summarizing the conclusions of her mechanical detectors. ''No CO2 output at all... Zero pulse rate...'' Perhaps the synthetic sex worker really had blown a gasket, that was impossible – how could they even be moving?
''You're not protected...'' She concluded cryptically, I heard a low buzz that indicated she was employing her inbuilt tazer to attack these... People who couldn't be people. Sounds of the struggle grunting. Another electric buzz. That seemed to have some effect, one of the shuffling, lab coated figures tumbled to the ground, collapsing in full view of me.
Milky white eyes stared out from within eye sockets sunken like cesspools into which blind madness had been secreted. The skin of the man's creased forehead had a chalky pallor as pale as it was implausible for any living human being. Yellow stubs that should have been teeth parted with a throaty gasp, allowing an unwholesome trail of black bile to corrupt the pristine sands below.
It was dead.
The man was absolutely deceased. It was not a mask, no mere makeup could achieve such sepulchral dysfunction of complexion as this. And yet somehow, it/he was moving. It rose on gnarled elbows, and seemed to appraise me. Should I be offended or encouraged that it seemed to find me lacking?
The struggle with Heart-of-Gold seem to be intensifying, I could hear the wanton robot straining and grunting as the apparently dead quartet began to bear her down towards the sand. I suspected the normally insatiable gynoid never imagined she would be putting up with this much resistance towards men that wanted to get close to her. There was a horrid slurping sound, and several more tazer buzzes.
Oh God.... Were they... Were they biting her? Heart-of-Gold gave a very womanly scream, as a lurid chomping sound was plainly heard. Wow, and the sexy she-bot probably thought of herself as a man eater! But in a much less literal way. The tazer that had put me flat on my back seemed not to bother these used-to-be-men in the least.
Speaking of that, all of a sudden it was as though something... Clicked inside me. In a flash, I had regained what felt like full mobility! I twirled my legs for leverage as I jumped into action, not questioning my good fortune. It's true that I had little incentive to allow a horny robot hooker built from the molecule up to be sexually irresistible anywhere near the man I was after, but she didn't deserve a fate like this. Though it was difficult to imagine why any of this was happening in the first place....
