Opportunity knocks only once. John James Ingalls was a U.S. Senator from Kansas, and he penned this ode to opportunity in the mid-19th century. It became Theodore Roosevelt's favorite poem. When Roosevelt was president, an autographed copy of "Opportunity" was the only thing besides a portrait hanging in his office. If Teddy Roosevelt himself needed that inspirational reminder, so do we all.
