Thank you for "opening" a window, Fay.Jolene BrackeyAlzheimer's speaker and author of "Creating Moments Of Joy"This caregiver handbook is designed to help care for people with Alzheimer's disease or other dementia illnesses in the home, hospital, nursing home or home health settings. As a Certified Nurse Aide for fifteen years, I learned with my on the job training how to work with the residents at the nursing home. About the Author

Fay Risner lives on an acreage with her husband and a few milk goats, rabbits, chickens and cats. She is retired so she spends her time writing books and enjoying working in the garden, flower beds and helping take care of the animals. This book, Open A Window, is the most important book that Fay has ever written. She is so gratified that the book has helped so many caregivers understand how to help others that have Alzheimer's or dementia from some other disease.
Taking care of her father for ten long years while he battled Alzheimer's disease gave her experience and a insight that taught her how to take care of others suffering from the disease. While working at the local nursing home, she found other caregivers that needed more knowledge about how to help their love ones and could use Fay's book to understand what their loved ones were going through. After learning that residents with dementia each have a window that can be opened, Fay wanted others to understand what she has learned through her experiences. In this book, she shows you how she opened those windows for others.
Also available is Fay's book Hello Alzheimer's Goodbye Dad which is the true story of how she and her mother took care of her father. The book has many caregiving tips from the Alzheimer's Association at the end of chapters. For those families caregiving for loved ones, this book certainly shows that you are not alone. Millions of caregiving are going through the same difficult situation.
