Overview

A detailed account of Earnest Hanson's experiences. He was born in 1920 and was raised on a homestead in southeastern Colorado. Drafted into the army in 1943, he was trained to fight in WWII in the 101st Airborne division, making the storming of Normandy and fighting there for a month before being readied to fight in Holland. When being moved into position, his tow plane was shot down and the glider he was being transported in crashed. He was captured by the German Army and was held as a POW until the end of the war. He was liberated by the Russian Army when they overran eastern Germany. It also tells of his experiences while he was trying to return to the US Army to be returned to the United States and be reintegrated into civilian life.
