Making this book into a series was done to aid the reader. The subject matter of this material is so intense and convicting at times that it is much easier to handle in smaller doses. I BEG OF YOU TO CONSIDER AND REMEMBER, DEAR READER, that I have only one goal in the writing of this material: To give the Lord an opportunity to present Himself to you and then invite (may I say even call) you to participate in or grow deeper in a genuine, personal, intimate relationship with Him.
My focus in writing this book (and this series) has changed dramatically over the 15 plus years that I have been working on it (them). Originally I thought my purpose was to produce a document that would present formal, apologetic-style, theological proofs that religion and relationship are incompatible and, in fact, are at direct odds with one another, even to the point of being adversaries. While this premise is true, the Lord had other ideas about the approach for presenting this material that I was very slow in accepting. His purpose was to use this material to call His people back to a place of knowing Him. What I thought was the original purpose I could have accomplished intellectually (at least I thought I could). However, His purpose requires much more than intellect; it requires actually knowing Him for oneself. Any approach to writing from the perspective of His purpose is effective only when the writer is communicating from personal experience. Therefore, the material for these books was not gleaned from the writings or experiences of others; it was obtained through personal life experiences as God provided me with the direction and answers that enabled me to personally quest for Him.
Consequently, I must confess that I have been more personally benefitted by writing these books than I could ever hope that anyone else will be in reading them. However, as I am only the scribe, the potential impact and results of the words and Spirit contained in this series of books is totally within the power, authority, and influence of the Lord Jesus Christ about whom they were written. It is completely out of my control. Thank God!
