About the Author

Kristi Kay Cowles is a cultural pioneer, professional singer and an ordinary elder wise-woman who sang full time in the Milwaukee area of her home state, Wisconsin, for seventeen years. In 1986 she graduated from Alverno College with a double major in psychology and philosophy. In 1989, after graduating with an M.A in East/West Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, she purchased an 1880 Victorian in the wee hamlet of Springfield, three miles north of Lake Geneva, a popular tourist attraction in southeast Wisconsin near the Illinois border. Within these historic walls she proceeded to manifest a "big dream" that had been haunting her for decades: the creation of Pederson Victorian Bed and Breakfast and Singing Wolf Center. For the next seventeen years, these twin businesses flourished until fall of 2007, when she sold everything except family heirlooms and moved out to the Applegate Valley in southwest Oregon, where she presently resides with her husband and three cats.
