Overview

This is a collection of poetry written over a span of a few years after I ended my first marriage. I began the process of self-healing and self-growth by keeping a journal. Eventually I tried composing verses and poetic prose that became very personally linked to my emotional state. I lived overwhelming romantic longing and sexual desire, juxtaposed to spiritual search for inner peace and everything in between. This book will transport you to a place some people only dream of. I have lived through the extasy of romance coupled with intense sexual drive. I have fallen deep in love and given myself completely to senseous carnal abandon. I have drank from the cup of lust, from the cup of romance, from the cup of sex, from the cup of disappointment, from the cup of spiritual disillusionment and nostalgic dreaming. I have found and lost love more than a few times. I have been to the other side of the spectrum and been ready to end my life and on the brink of self-destruction. I have struggled to understand my place in this world and some of this life experience is printed on these pages. In the end I found love one more time and was saved. Love is always merciful and healing. Love keeps me going even today.

About the Author

Jose Luis Barron Villasenor was born in a small town just outside the city of Queretaro, state of Queretaro, Mexico, in 1972. At the age of 15 he immigrated to Orange County, Southern California. As an immigrant, he struggled to learn the language but was able to graduate from Estancia H.S. in 1991. He married his high school sweetheart shortly after once it became apparent she was pregnant. The marriage lasted approximately five years. No formal higher education was completed. In later years he delved into meditation and alternative healing arts at the Southern California Psychic Institute. He also became a self-taught artist and sells his paintings locally in El Paso, TX where he lives with his second wife. This is his first poetry book
