About the Author

Charlie Shifflett spent six years in China, including four at the national weekly newspaper 21st Century, where he worked as a section editor and writer. The 30-year-old has also written for China Daily, taught English composition courses at People's University in Beijing and earned a master's degree from the University of Iowa. He currently resides in Washington D.C.
