About the Author

I come from Northern Ireland and am married, with one son. During the 1980s, I decided to move to Germany, where I thoroughly immersed myself in the language and culture of the German people. I lived in Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, for a time, and finally settled in Wolfsburg. Living in West Germany during the Cold War was akin to being immersed in the vibrant colours of Claude Monet’s painting, The Japanese Bridge, before becoming enveloped in the monochrome setting of East Berlin. I have made many return visits to Germany, which I am proud to call my second home.

On my return to Ireland, I established several successful commercial ventures before accepting a lecturing post at a local college. In my spare time - when I am not writing fiction or poetry – I enjoy attending literary and classical music events. I also have a passion for German classic cars.

I have written two fictional novels, one base in Germany, the other set in rural Ireland along with a film script set in Belfast. The first instalment of the, On Marian Place crime thriller trilogy was based on my time spent living in Germany. Some of the people I met along the way were skilfully interwoven into the many characters. Some of the story is fictional, but quite a lot of the narrative is taken from real events.
