Excerpt:

“Alpha Devel. We’ve found an omega,” the Alpha heard one of his betas, Rafael, say.

“Where?”

“He crossed our borders this morning. We followed him to check if he was alone.”

“And?”

“It looks like he’s been on the road for a while. He stinks that way too. But there was no one else with him.”

“Bring him to me.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

A few minutes later, the Alpha heard the commotion as several enforcers pulled a scruffy looking figure toward him. The stench was terrible. The smell alone would have made it apparent someone was trespassing on their lands.

“Who are you?” Devel asked as he looked at the newcomer.

“Charlie.” The smaller man said.

“Where are you from?”

The man just shook his head, refusing to answer. Despite the stench, it was obvious he was an omega. He could smell the faint scent of an adult omega. Someone too vital to any pack to lose. This one must have run away from his masters. Still, the old masters’ loss was their gain. They needed an omega to keep all the alphas calm. There had been more fighting than usual among them.

“How old are you?” Devel asked, trying to find the answer by looking at the smaller man.

Again the prisoner refused to answer.

“It won’t help your cause by refusing to give me the information I need. But never mind. We’ll uncover it sooner or later.” The Alpha turned to his beta. “Raphael. Make sure this one gets a proper wash. Dunk him in the river if needed.”

“Yes, Alpha,” Rafael said and nodded.

“But…” the omega objected.

“Yes?” The Alpha asked.

“Nothing,” the younger man said quickly and shook his head.

“Make sure he survives and have the doctor check on him. We need an omega.”

The omega looked at him in terror.

“Welcome to the Blackclaw Pack,” the Alpha said and grinned at him.
