About the Author

Ms. Singer has always loved books ever since she could turn a page, and is an avid reader. She also loves writing serious poetry as well as creating fun rhymes and verses. She finally combined her passions and, with the help of good friend and illustrator Julia Lueders, came up with the children's picture book "Olives.
Ms. Singer lives with her physician husband, Jeffrey, in Phoenix, Arizona. Together they have 2 grown daughters and two grandchildren.

Ms. Lueders's quirky and very funny illustrations bring the olive debate to life. Olives spill out from the most unlikely places. Both dialogue and illustrations lead to some chuckles out loud moments for the reader, even an adult like me. It's a very clever and funny book, sure to encourage reading over and over.

I was skeptical that a book titled "Olives"
could be entertaining, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find out otherwise! The author of "Olives" brings this book to life with whimsical charm: Meg Singer used a wonderful flow of rhyming words that splash together with an easily achieved cadence and prosody by the reader. It can open up conversations about what the listener is passionate about, in the way that the main character is about olives. I think this book will be loved by children.

For me, truly, this book will create memories for moms and their grown up kids. A "Remember when" kind of thing. And for me, having been an English teacher, the lyrical prose conjured up smiles and tugged at my heartstrings. It made me do a "remember when" when I stood in a classroom MANY years ago. To this day something will bring back those memories and make me smile. "Olives" did that for me!
