Overview

Before Daria Burke was crushing it in her career as a C-suite executive, she grew up in a household with drug-addicted parents, experiencing a childhood marked by abuse and neglect. She realized that in order to live the life she deserved, she needed to rewrite the script. As an adult, she dove headfirst into an exploration of her trauma, taking neuroscience for Business courses at MIT and Positive Psychology and Well-Being course sat Stanford, taught by expert in trauma psychiatrists. Part inspirational memoir, part methodology for turning your trauma into a superpower, Of My Own Making follows Burke’s journey of healing through modalities like epigenetics, neuroplasticity, and decades of therapy in the pursuit of discovering what it means to live well and on purpose.

In Of My Own Making, Daria draws on her experiences to explore a variety of neuroscientific, psychological, and spiritual healing modalities to present readers with a framework for transforming past trauma into a superpower, cultivating wisdom, and designing the lives of their dreams. Part-memoir, part-methodology, Of My Own Making is both a deeply personal account of Burke journey to show readers how to excavate childhood experiences, discover inner strength, learn how to “re-parent” themselves, and see, believe, and become all that they aspire to be.
