About the Author

After teaching for years in special education, Rachel was inspired to create something that could be used within the schools and at home to teach children calming strategies and how to share their feelings appropriately.

Rachel created this book with her 8 year old son, Lafayette. Lafayette used his creative abilities to color all the artwork and provide feedback on characters. Rachel’s hope is that this book provides parents and teachers with the tools necessary to start the conversation with children on how to self regulate the big feelings we go through everyday.

Rachel enjoys her adventures with her husband, son and their goldendoodle puppy. She has proudly worked in three different states as an educator with her husband’s military career. This book was inspired from seeing many of the same behavioral challenges no matter what state she taught in and the need for more resources. In her free time, she loves to spend time outdoors with her family and travel to new cities, states, and countries. She thoroughly enjoyed creating this book with her son. In addition to his artistic abilities and creativity, Lafayette loves to play soccer, hang out with his family and play outside with his friends.
