The Author of thefe Obfervations that hafte is in general a bad excufe for incor reétnefs yet he hopes Come allowances will be made him on that account in the prefent publication. Hav ing inadirertently mentioned what he deemed a difeo very before he had inveftiga ted the fubjeét, or intended publifhing his Obfervations on in a fear of being antici, pated has induced him to hurry the work tlii'ough the prefs as fat't as pofiible, Some improvements might be made in the arrangement of the arguments; but many of them have been added while the work was going through the ptefs, and after the parts to Which they more properly belonged were printed off.
