About the Author

Virupaksh U. Patil is working as scientist at Division of Crop Improvement, Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla 171001 since 2009. He has done under-graduation (Agriculture) and post graduation (Plant Biotechnology) from UAS, Dharwad and UAS, Bangalore with gold medal. Joined Agriculture Research Service (ARS) in 2009. He is specialized in Genomics and Molecular biology and is involved in genome sequencing of Potato and many bacterial and fungal pathogens of potato like Phytophthora infestans, Fusarium sambucinum, Ralstonia solanacearum, Rhizoctonia solanacearum etc. Has the credit of publishing many research papers in international reputed journal including Nature. Has also written three book chapters and many popular articles.
Amarjit K. Nath is working as professor, Department of Biotechnology, Dr. Y. S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan. She has completed the M. Sc. (Biochemistry) and Ph. D (Biochemistry) from Haryana Agriculture University, Hissar and Post Doctorate from Welsh Plant Breeding station, Dyfed Aberystwyth, Wales, UK. She has served as Asst. Prof. (1987 to 1998), Assoc. Prof. (1998 to 2006), Prof. (2006 to till date) at UHF, Nauni. She was also head, Department of Biotechnology (2015 to 2018). She has guided a total of 34 M. Sc. and 5 Ph. D students both from Biochemistry and Biotechnology and has the credit of publishing many research papers in international reputed journals. Vanishree G. is presently working as scientist at Division of Crop Improvement, Central Potato Research institute, Shimla 171 001. She has completed her B. Sc. (Agriculture) from UAS, Dharwad and M. Sc. and Ph. D (Genetics and Plant Breeding) from Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI), Pusa, New Delhi. She has joined the Agriculture Research Service (ARS) from 2011 and served as scientist at Directorate of Sorghum Research, Hyderabad from 2011 to 2013. She is presently working on molecular and breeding for viral resistance in potato. She has the credit of publishing many research papers in international reputed journals.
