Description: This 10th edition handbook offers a comprehensive guide to interviewing clients and performing a physical assessment. This small spiral-bound book is presented in an easy-to-use, full-color format. It provides both normal and abnormal findings with terminology that helps to develop clinical documentation. The ninth edition was published in 2018.
Purpose: The purpose of this book is to provide a comprehensive resource that can be used as a stand-alone textbook or as a supplement to its more in-depth text, Health Assessment in Nursing, 7th Edition, Weber (Wolters Kluwer, 2022). It is evidence based and addresses cultural differences, as well as geriatric and pediatric variations, which are presented at the end of each body system. It also addresses variations in the nursing assessment of special groups (i.e., childbearing women, newborns, infants, and older adults).
Audience: This book serves as a valuable tool that can be used by nursing students as well as practicing nurses. It is an evidence-based resource for student nurses in both the nursing lab and their clinical rotations. Its spiral-bound design allows readers to leave it open for easy access. Dr. J. R. Weber is a professor emeritus in the department of nursing at Southeast Missouri State University and has authored several books that have contributed to the field of nursing.
