In an attempt to start over, 22-year-old Alyssa moves to Trinidad. Although she tries to build a life for herself on the beautiful Caribbean island, she finds that her twisted self-perception isn't getting better. She meets tons of locals and even captures the attention of one particular Trini boy. But this doesn’t help ease the pain Alyssa has carried for years; no matter what she does, Alyssa can’t seem to crawl toward the light of hope.
Until she meets Jasmine, an AIDS baby at an orphanage deep in the heart of Trinidad. Jasmine teaches Alyssa the power of faith. Alyssa discovers that the road to recovery is long and dimly-lit...but definitely within reach.
