Overview

Balboa Park, the Prado, and the famed Organ Pavilion are all a little bit of Eden for Evelyn and Howard who met there, married at the park, and lived most of their married lives in a bungalow nearby. Now, they must sell their beloved home and move to an assisted living where Howard can get the memory care he needs.

Ruby, Evelyn and Howard's granddaughter, grew up visiting the park and her grandparents. Of course, it's the perfect spot to marry her soulmate Logan. She hopes her marriage will be as loving and long as her grandparents'.

But all is not as perfect as it seems.

Evelyn has spent much of her marriage concealing a potentially life-altering secret about a long-ago afternoon. She wants Howard's forgiveness. But is it too late to confess?

The honeymoon is barely over for Ruby and Logan when Ruby learns about something Logan did; she's not sure her marriage can survive the fallout.

When Lawrence, a man who's skilled at ferreting out the truth, moves to the same assisted living as Evelyn and Howard, will Evelyn's secret be laid bare before she has a chance to tell Howard? Or will Lawrence's own hidden past be unearthed first by Ruby's nose for news?

Janice Coy is the author of seven books of fiction. All can be found on Amazon.

Ruby Scott is expert at uncovering uncomfortable truths. She's had a successful career as a hard-charging investigative reporter bent on exposing truths others are desperate to hide. But when she discovers a truth that hits close to home, she questions her judgment in rushing to marry Logan. Ruby's grandmother, Evelyn Scott, has spent much of her sixty-year marriage concealing a potentially life altering truth about a long-ago afternoon. As her beloved husband gradually loses his memories, Evelyn wonders if it's too late to beg his forgiveness for what happened. When Lawrence Paisley, a man skilled at ferreting out the truth of a mission, moves to the same assisted living facility as Evelyn, will her secret be exposed before she can tell her husband? Or will Lawrence's own desire for secrecy be thwarted first by Ruby's nose for news? Living in an imperfect world that's north of Eden, Ruby and Evelyn must decide what truths demand the light and what truths are better left buried. Janice Coy is the award-winning author of three previous novels. Her third novel, "The Smallest of Waves," was chosen as a finalist by the San Diego Book Award Association.
