Chapter One

Mean King Rob was a grouchy old rat.

He was cranky and cross from his claws to his hat.

NO MUSIC! He screamed STOP BEATING THAT DRUM!

So the quiet little mice would feel gloomy and glum.

The town mice all feared him, for he screeched and he swore.

Mouseville would have cheerful music no more.

A small lonesome creature crept out of her hole.

Hoping to hear laughter, and music, and more.

But Mouseville

Was Silent.

She drug out her piano quite timidly.
