Overview

The story of Francis Scott Fitzgerald's novel "Tender is the Night" is interesting. The idea and the title of the future book were changed several times. The writer began work on it in 1925, wrote the second version four years later, and by the end of 1933 finished the work in an updated, third version. The novel is set in Europe. A talented young American psychiatrist Dick Diver falls in love with his patient Nicole and marries her. The couple live in a mansion on the banks of the Riviera. Eighteen-year-old American actress Rosemary comes to rest, meets a young couple. She falls in love with Dick at first sight and he loves her back. Their feelings go through difficult tests, lovers part for a long time more than once, and Nicole's life does not work out either. All the heroes of the novel experience a streak of failures and disappointments.
