This Brooklyn indie-soul outfit has the honor of being the first artists released under DFA's partnership with Rong records, allowing for a few more ears to hear them beyond the usual basement gigs. Featuring former !!!-er John Pugh on the microphone, the duo whips up something akin to psychedelic indie-soul, somewhere between the good-foot freakouts of D.C.'s the Apes and fellow Brooklynite funksters the Durty Nanas. SURF MUSIC is a soundtrack for a party, with a tinge of whiteboy irony that's too playful and hedonistic to point too skeptical a finger at.
