About the Author

Lok Raj Baral (Ph.D.) is Professor & Executive Chairman of Nepal Centre for Contemporary Studies (NCCS), Kathmandu, Nepal. He served as Professor and Chairman of Political Science Department at Tribhuvan University during 1976-89. He has twenty books to his credit (both authored and edited), contributed articles and chapters in different international, national journals and edited books on Nepal and South Asia. He is also the editor of Journal of Contemporary Studies published by the NCCS and is on the advisory boards of various International journals.

Uddhab Pd. Pyakurel, Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, is teaching Political Sociology as Assistant Professor in School of Arts, Kathmandu University, Nepal. He is also associated with various democracy forums i.e., South Asian Dialogues on Ecological Democracy (SADED), Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (VK), and Network Institute for Global Democratisation (NIGD). He contributes articles to journals and local newspapers on various social issues and Indo-Nepal relations. He has authored books namely; the State of Conflict and Democratic Movement in Nepal, Maoist Movement in Nepal: A Sociological Perspective and co-authored Dalit Representation in National Politics of Nepal.
