Overview

Nearcus is a twelve-year old boy living on the small Greek island of Chios in 67 AD who dreams of visiting the big city. In fact, he wants to visit Corinth, the largest city in Greece, and he has a plan on how to get there. By earning a spot on the Chios Isthmian Games team he will get to fulfill his dream. But that is easier planned than done! Before he can see Corinth, he must battle with gods, sea monsters, murderers, thieves and bullies. Along the way he discovers much about himself and he meets someone who changes his life forever.

Nearcus Versus the Gods is a challenging read for young adults, but the characters, story and ACTION found in every chapter make it compelling reading for both young men and women. It does more than expand their vocabulary and teach them what it was really like to live in the time of Emperor Nero; it presents life choices that every young adult must face as they grow into adults.
