Înșirând Mărgele este o traducere în limba română a cărții în engleză „Life by Design" -Tales of a Dracula Baby Immigrant.
În a doua jumătate a secolului trecut, Europa avea multe țări comuniste. Una dintre ele a fost România. Cartea arată contrastul dintre lumea idilică a copilăriei cu elementele sale de realism magic opresiunea și lipsa de libertate în vechiul sistem comunist.
Ileana, un copil privilegiat care provine dintr-o familie necomunistă, protejată în copilărie, se dezvoltă ca individ în anii de facultate, mai ales după ce s-a căsătorit devreme. Trăiește cutremurul din 1977, discriminare împotriva ei în școala de arhitectură și începe să-și exprime părerile politice periculoase, ducând la suficient conflict pentru a lăsa totul în urmă și să fugă SUA. Refuzată azilului politic, ea câștigă apelul și devine o arhitectă de succes în New York, unde ajunge să construiască zgârie-norul Time Square Tower. Cu noul ei soț, ei se mută în sud; cu timpul, ea recunoaște simptomele decăderii sociale și ale tensiunilor economico-politice, și se mută în Mexic. Își construiește o viață și o casă noi; descoperă o lume nouă. Este o poveste de curaj crud, supraviețuire, dragoste de viață, încredere, succes și putere de caracter.

Înșirând Mărgele is a Romanian translation of the English book "Life by Design"-Tales of a Dracula Baby Immigrant.
Back in the second half of the past century, Europe had many communist countries. One of them was Romania.
The book shows the contrast between the idyllic world of childhood with its elements of magic realism and the oppression and lack of freedom in the old communist system. Ileana, a privileged child who comes from a non-communist family, shielded in childhood, she develops as an individual during her college years, especially after getting married early. She lives through the earthquake of 1977, discrimination against her in the architectural school, and starts voicing her dangerous political views, leading to enough conflict that she has to leave everything behind and defect to the US.
Denied political asylum, she wins the appeal and becomes a successful architect in NYC, where she ends up building the Time Square tower.
With her new husband, they move South; in time, she recognizes the symptoms of social decay and economic-political tensions, and they move to Mexico. She builds a new life and house; discovers a new world.
It is a story of raw guts, courage, survival, love of life, confidence, success, and character strength. Meant to encourage people to create the life they want, not just dream of it; the book is a testimony that destiny emerges from our choices in life.
