My Road to Kenya
"Together we shared a mostly happy journey — facing and overcoming
obstacles, meeting fascinating people wherever we went while falling completely in love with the people of Kenya. This book is a tribute to my co-laborers and in
writing this book I hope to show that one does not need to be a hero to step out,
take risks and make the world a better, healthier and happier place."
–Jack O’Leary

An archbishop, an environmentalist and an AIDS activist are only a few of the heroes, who stood up against a ruthless dictator and corrupt government, in Jack O'Leary's My Road to Kenya.

My Road to Kenya shines a light on a group of everyday heroes who believe they were called to make a difference in the lives of the people of Kenya. Fate and faith led them to the crossroads where their paths converged. Working together they have built and supplied hospitals, clinics, schools, churches, and homes for hundreds of children—many of whom were orphaned by HIV/ AIDS. Through it all they asked for nothing for them selves. Yet in the end, the collaborations of these everyday heroes resulted in something invaluable—the forging of deep and long-lasting friendships.

About the Author

About Jack O'Leary

Jack O’Leary is an entrepreneur and philanthropist. In 1984, Jack, then corporate vice- president of Burroughs Corporation, was approached to help launch International Imaging Materials, Inc. (IIMAK), which one decade later he took public.
While CEO and president of IIMAK, he was named campaign chairman for the United Way of Rochester, N.Y.

New York State’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 1995, Jack retired from corporate life to enjoy more time with friends and family, including his eleven grandchildren.
He never intended to become involved in the lives of the people of Kenya, but having financed the education of several Kenyan students, he was invited to visit them. Soon he was refurbishing and building hospitals, clinics and orphanages, and undertaking other humanitarian projects.

Jack shares his Kenyan journey to inspire others to make a difference in their own lives while making a difference for others.

About Mary Clare Lyons

Mary Clare Lyons is one of four children born to Carol and Charles B. Kenning of Rochester, New York. She retired from corporate America in 1995 to raise her two daughters while she taught at Pittsford Mendon High School.

Today, Mary Clare divides her time between New York State and Florida while continuing her efforts to grow and fulfill her passion for learning.

Jack shares his Kenyan journey to inspire others to make a difference in their own lives while making a difference for others.
