“Even though I do not have a formal background in Special Education or Social Emotional Learning, I was catapulted into Special Education when my son was diagnosed with Down Syndrome at 3 years old. At that moment, our lives changed forever. We learned how to deal with the health issues, the educational and behavioral issues as well as the side eyes from strangers. Having a child with Special Needs, more specifically Down Syndrome, can be exhausting, yet rewarding. We have to take it day by day, but we celebrate any and all successes.” -Brie
