Overview

Description of Book

My Little Inspirational Book is a compilation of poems and a short story I included because of my intense feelings on the subject matter.

Most of the poems were inspired by memories from my childhood. The ideas for the book came out of a hidden place that has been with me for years. But, I only discovered it after the passing of my mother and praying to the Lord for guidance and purpose in my life.

The object of the book is a look back in time when life was simpler and more manageable. There are writings in the book that may bring out a little laughter and there are some that will be thought provoking. I created the book size to make it easy to carry. It can be placed in a purse, a pocket or a folder. So it would be accessible to take out and read any time. This book is the winter volume and there are plans to bring out one book for each season.

About the Author

Autobiography

I am one of five children, three girls and two boys. I am also a twin to one brother. I grew up poor in Milwaukee in the 1960's. Our mother always told us that being poor was not a bad thing. She would always say, "we may be poor but we have each other." We are all over fifty now and we still live by that principal. We have each other regardless of circumstances.

As I was growing up, I never felt that I could not achieve my goals and aspirations in life. To me, there was always hope. I've always had a lot of drive and an entrepreneurial spirit.

I was divorced years ago after a long marriage. I have two sons from that union and eight grandchildren.

The first time I went to college, I graduated with an Associate Degree in Printing and Publishing Operations. I decided I wanted to go back to college for a Bachelor's degree. To my total amazement I was granted a scholarship to study in Germany. I went to Germany with my son's old army duffle bags and a backpack filled to capacity. As a non-traditional student I found college different than my younger counterparts. I seemed more ambitious and put more time into studying. I graduated in Business Administration and International Marketing.

In my adult life, I worked a number of jobs from customer service to sales. However, my main goal was to open my own business. One day I said to myself, "go for it!" I opened an advertising and marketing company. A couple of years later I created a magazine and named it Aspirations Living and Learning. Running both companies at the same time was quite adventurous. I was asked to speak to many groups on what it took to open and manage a woman owned business. When the economy started to decline and I lost most of my advertisers, I decided I had to let it go. I have come to the point in my life where I have found my passion, which is writing. Somehow memories started flooding my mind and I remembered how I loved the written word.
