Overview

My Life in Poetry is a journey through depths of emotion that touch home in the most unexpected of ways. This book is a book of emotive poetry designed to be read when you want to FEEL. The depths of emotion that touch this author when inspired to pen these pieces of literary art border on, well, Borderline in the intense ways that are felt and relayed.

The love poems make you feel like you're overtaken, and the sad ones are quick to attack those inside pieces of yourself that you thought no one else could possibly feel too! That also goes to say that when you read on to the more empowering poems, we just know that you will find yourself standing alongside those brave monarchs on that battlefield feeling the weight of your well-earned crown not at all as you command and endure and rule!

This book is made for those who know what it is like to wish they could feel just a little bit less, that maybe long some days for some sure means of escapism, for those who have been called too much... and yet it is also for those who are trapped in a perpetual state of that escape and need a reminder to come home to your feelings. This book will resonate with some while inspiring others to allow emotion to wash over them. My Life in Poetry is for all of us poor souls and our blasted extremes. One way or another, you are thought of, and you are seen, and these words are for you.

About the Author

Jeski is a single mother of one beautiful multi-racial baby girl who absolutely rules her mommy’s world! While her daily life spent largely at home with her corporate career and writing endeavors, she always makes time to promote and volunteer with her Upper Mattaponi Tribal Nation and never misses a pow-wow! She is quick to show up for that part of her heritage as excited as always with her toddler dressed in full regalia and ready to dance!

When she is not advocating for racial justice within her own tribe as well as other minorities that she is quick to march and raise awareness for, you’ll find her with her other charitable passions! Jeski is also a champion of mental health awareness and research as well as suicide prevention and raises money for both yearly even as she speaks openly about her own mental issues insomuch as her diagnoses of Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and c-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Relaying her experiences with them and not only how they affect people’s familial and social relationships, jobs, and even education throughout their daily lives and just what we can and should be doing about the stigmas and education behind it all, but she also speaks through her literary artistry about the intense emotional effects of these disorders on her everyday emotions.

Many people housing mental illness or personality disorders are in suffrage with every emotion they feel simply because they feel them so very intensely. Like Jeski, they have often found themselves being too much or not enough at all. Two very different extremes and two very different reasons to want to read something so emotive and provoking that you simply must FEEL. That is Jeski Adams’ gift to her readers. An ability to provide them with that depth of emotion they either crave or feel relation to. She helps her readers feel like they are never alone in their feelings and validates just as sure as she calls them to love, to cry, to parent, and to even be empowered. Here’s hoping Jeski has inspired you with her bare emotive poetry and you feel called to action next! There is always a cause to champion… sometimes we ourselves are that cause. Self-awareness, self-love, and action on those parts are not selfish acts. Jeski only hopes that all her readers act on behalf of themselves and their betterment as she does her very best to every day.

Happy reading!
