Adam Names the Animals

Genesis 2:18-23; 3:20

Who made the world? God made the world! Who made trees and flowers? God made trees and flowers! Who made animals? God made animals!

What else did God make? God made man! God loved the man and named him "Adam." God gave Adam a special job. What do you think it was?

God told Adam to name the animals. But — oh my! Look at all the animals! Fuzzy, furry, tiny, tall — how could Adam name them all? "Elopattamus?" "Kangamoo?" What shall he call them? What would you do?

Adam named the animals, and God was pleased. Then God gave Adam a helper. Adam named her "Eve."

Everyone had a special name. Did you know God has a special name for you? God calls you — His!

God said, "I have called you by your name; you are mine." (Isaiah 43:1)

Noah Obeys God

Genesis 6:5-7:16

God looked at the earth. He saw people everywhere disobeying Him. The people didn't love God. They didn't do anything God said. God was very sad. Did anyone love God? Yes! Noah loved God!

God would make it rain and rain. God would wash the world clean. But God loved Noah and would keep him safe.

"Build a boat," said God. So Noah obeyed God. Zzz-bang-bang-BANG! Noah built a boat called an ark. God sent special guests to ride in the park. Who were they? Fuzzy, fluffy, feathery, friendly animals! God sent every kind of animal.

Into the ark went the animals. Into the ark went Noah and his family. Then — whump! — God closed the door. God made it rain and rain. God washed the earth clean. But God kept Noah and his family and all the animals safe and sound. Drip, drip, drop — God's love will never stop!

God said. "Make yourself an ark," and Noah obeyed Him. (Genesis 6:14)

Prayer Time

Let's thank God for all His love and watchful care from up above.

Dear God.

We know You love us. And we love You too. Help us obey You in all that we do.

Amen.

Sleep Time

Tonight's Bible word is obey. Think about how happy you feel when you obey God. Night-night!

God's Promise

Genesis 7:11-8:12

Drip, drop, pouring down — rain was falling all around!

God promised to wash the world dean. And God promised to keep Noah, his family, and the animals safe in the ark — and God did. God always keeps His promises! But there was so much water!

Drip, drip, drop — would the rain ever stop?

Yes! God promised to stop the rain — and God always keeps His promises. God stopped the rain. Then God sent a wind to blow across the water. Ooo-ooo! The wind blew and blew. It swirled and whirled around, and the flood began to go down, down, down — just as God had promised!

Noah opened the window. The sunshine came in, and a dove flew out. Noah sent the pretty bird to find dry land.

Guess what the bird found! The bird found a green leaf! Noah knew there was dry land. Noah was thankful to God. God had kept His promise!

God remembered Noah, as well as all ... that were with him in the ark. (Genesis 8:7

Prayer Time

Let's thank God for all His love and watchful care from up above.

Dear God.

Thank You for Your promises — each one You always keep. Promise now to keep me safe tonight while I'm asleep.

Amen.
